Orbitsu : My first iPhone game
Since I’m turning this blog more into a portfolio, I’m taking the chance to add these old videos I dug up on youtube of some of my older works, like this one: Orbitsu!
Having just left Namco Networks America back in 2008 to start our first gaming company – Flying Dino LLC – this was my first foray into iOS development. It was published back in 2009 and received mixed reviews as a result of my admittedly limited game design experience. I still fondly remember the night my high school buddy played it after a few beers and wound up vomiting due to the nausea caused by staring at the spinning game field. Sorry Ivan.
We were fortunate enough to get the PocketGamer crew to review it here.
iLounge also included in a batch review here.
Regardless, I still had a blast making it, hopping around coffee shops and public libraries in the Outer Sunset of San Francisco. I spent about 6 months creating most of the entire game by myself, including art, coding, mechanics and level design. The music was skillfully composed by our buddy Randy aka DJ RAIN (love it), and it still gives me sense of nostalgic melancholy.
Here’s some YouTube videos I dug up showcasing it. Enjoy!
